Courtnie Breland native to Florida, moved to Jacksonville, FL in 2001. She graduated from N.B. Forrest High School (currently known as Westside High School) in 2005 and went on to pursue her associates degree at Florida State College at Jacksonville(FSCJ). While at FSCJ, she was able to explore multiple healthcare avenues and built up a strong medical network. During this time, Mrs. Breland discovered her passion for surgical procedures and simultaneously pursued her Surgical Technologist Certification. Mrs. Breland then went on to become a well-respected surgical technologist with St.Vincent’s Medical Center.
The opportunity to further her education was presented in 2013, as she was accepted into the University of North Florida’s (UNF) athletic training program. Mrs. Breland’s internships allowed her to spend considerable time with Episcopal School of Jacksonville, UNF Women’s soccer and softball teams, and Jacksonville University’s football team. Additionally, she became the first female to intern as an athletic trainer with the National Football League’s Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014. Mrs. Breland graduated from UNF in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, and she immediately began working towards her graduate degree at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. Mrs. Breland obtained her Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2016. Soon after, she became and continues to be, an influential athlete advocate in the community as she works with many schools, organizations, clubs, physicians, and medical teams. She thrives on impacting and serving others. During her time in Jacksonville she has worked with organizations such as the Jacksonville Ice Men, OneBlood, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Salvation Army, Girls Scouts of America, and Family Promise to name a few.
Courtnie Breland is an active leader within her church and it is through Church and her ministry that she became divinely connected to the Marts family and Level the Playing Field Leadership Academy.
