We exist to empower young male athletes of color, from single parent homes to become successful on and off the field. Our vision is to positively impact the lives of the next generation of male athletes of color.

OUR PURPOSE

At Level the Playing Field Leadership Academy our work is preventative in nature.  Beginning in middle school, boys enter our program to receive mentorship, academic support, recreation, cultural enrichment, character development, emotional support, and community engagement through the age of 21. We believe providing these experiences to  young male athletes of color from single parent homes will guide them to success in life as positive male role models.

OUR FOUNDER

Having grown up in a single parent home, Lonnie’s successes in life can be attributed to his mother’s sacrifices that in turn afforded him opportunities not readily available to most young African American males. After attending an all-male private school in New Orleans, Lonnie graduated from Tulane University and went on to play 11 years in the NFL. After retiring, he founded an athletic training organization to enhance athletes’ speed and football skills. Lonnie spent 10 years as a high school head football coach and 6 of those years he doubled as an Athletic director. As a father of five children, and Coach at heart, Lonnie’s passion for sports and youth continues to fuel his desire to impact the next generation of athletes. His aim is to train players for long term success both on and off the field.
